Help our students engage with the world around them

For children, the world is a limitless classroom, an infinite library, a waiting laboratory. It is best explored using the methods at which children are already experts: touching, digging, looking, smelling, running through it, climbing it, then stopping to listen. These lessons extend beyond just understanding the natural world. They help children understand their capabilities and responsibilities. This is found at the core of Growing Up Green's educational approach. Through these shared experiences we build a strong, resilient and vibrant community of learners.

Growing Up Green Charter Schools serve the diverse populations of Long Island City and Jamaica, Queens. Our students learn that being "GREEN" is more than just recycling. It is becoming leaders of a sustainable future through rigorous academics, an engaging, hands-on science curriculum, and an interactive, multidisciplinary, nuanced approach to history.
